The State Bureau of Investigation responds resolutely to potential acts of violence against citizens, ensuring an objective and impartial determination of all relevant circumstances.
SBI operatives have initiated criminal proceedings regarding the death of a 52-year-old man who was hospitalized with severe bodily injuries after being held at the Kremenchuk District Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support.
According to preliminary data, on the evening of July 2, 2026, police officers stopped a vehicle operated by the man. During the interaction, signs of alcohol intoxication were detected.
During the night of July 3, the man was delivered to the Kremenchuk District TCC and SP, where he remained until July 4. Law enforcement officials are verifying the circumstances under which he may have sustained bodily injuries during this timeframe.
Subsequently, the man was admitted in critical condition to the intensive care unit of a municipal hospital in Kremenchuk. He underwent surgery on July 5, but died on July 9.
According to the medical certificate of death, the causes were closed traumatic brain injury, skull base bone fractures, and hemorrhages beneath the membranes and into brain tissue. Preliminary findings indicate the injuries could have resulted from blunt force impact.
Criminal proceedings were instituted under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — excess of authority or official powers by a military official, committed under martial law.
SBI investigators are actively reconstructing the full timeline of events, establishing the precise circumstances under which the man sustained bodily injuries, and identifying persons potentially complicit.
Video surveillance recordings have been seized and are being analyzed, center personnel are being interrogated, and documents and other evidentiary materials of significance are being examined.
Actions taken by all persons who had contact with the individual from the moment he was stopped by police until his admission to the hospital are also being reviewed.
