Dmytro Sysoniuk, a 43-year-old anesthesiologist at the Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital who died after falling from a fifth-floor window while undergoing treatment at the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Central Region, was mobilized because he lacked reserved status.
This was stated by the Rivne Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support in response to an information request from Suspilne.
The response stated that Dmytro Sysoniuk had previously been reserved by the Rivne Regional Children's Hospital, where he worked as an anesthesiologist. However, as of July 24, 2026, the facility lost its critical enterprise status, and employees lost their reserved standing:
“Dmytro Sysoniuk was brought to the Rivne Regional TCC and SP by a notification group together with a community police officer. At the time of conscription into military service, the citizen did not hold reserved status.”
The Rivne TCC and SP also stated that after completing the military medical examination (VLC), Dmytro Sysoniuk was assigned to the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy, located in Kyiv:
“On July 27, 2026, Dmytro Sysoniuk underwent the VLC at the fourth department of the Rivne TCC and SP, based on which he was deemed fit for service in support military units, training centers, medical units, logistics, communications, and security units (military medical commission certificate No. 2026-0727-1142-5686-0 dated July 27, 2026). He was subsequently drafted and deployed for further service to military unit 'Ukrainian Military Medical Academy'.”
The Death of Dmytro Sysoniuk
On August 5, 2026, the 43-year-old junior lieutenant died while receiving medical treatment at the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Central Region in Vinnytsia.
“The man sustained injuries resulting from a fall from a fifth-floor restroom window,” Zarina Mayevska, spokesperson for the Vinnytsia Regional Police, commented to Suspilne.
In a conversation with Suspilne journalists during the memorial service, relatives of the deceased stated that they refuse to believe the version of an accidental fall from a window.
“Why would a doctor fall from a fifth-floor window? None of us believe it. We don’t believe it, no,” said Antonina, a relative of Dmytro Sysoniuk.
The Vinnytsia Regional Forensic Medical Examination Bureau confirmed that Dmytro Sysoniuk’s body had been delivered for examination. However, they cannot disclose autopsy findings without investigator permission due to the ongoing criminal case.
The circumstances surrounding Dmytro Sysoniuk’s death are being established by law enforcement. Investigative actions are ongoing, Vinnytsia regional police spokesperson Zarina Mayevska clarified to Suspilne on August 19:
“Criminal proceedings have been opened marked as an 'accident'. Witnesses have been interviewed as of now. Investigators are awaiting forensic medical examination conclusions.”
