Fedir Koshelniak died on 5 May 2026 while undergoing a military medical commission in Dnipro after being detained by a TCC notification group. His wife and the Dnipropetrovsk regional TCC and SP reported his death.

Timeline

  • 05.05.2026, around 08:45 - according to his wife Nataliia, Fedir Koshelniak was detained near Tunelna Balka in Dnipro while the couple was walking to a parking area.
  • According to her, about ten men in camouflage ran out of the bushes, did not identify themselves and did not check documents; Fedir was forced into a minibus.
  • His wife said that when she tried to record the vehicle's plate number, one of the people involved in the detention tried to take her phone.
  • After the detention, Fedir Koshelniak was taken to a military medical commission. In his wife's posts, the location of the later events was identified as 19 Panikakhy Street.
  • 05.05.2026, 10:48 - according to his wife, Fedir was already dead. Local outlet Informator also reported that he died during the medical commission roughly two hours after the detention.

TCC Version

The Dnipropetrovsk regional TCC and SP said that on 5 May, during a check of military registration documents, a notification group consisting of district TCC servicemen and a National Police representative stopped a conscription-liable citizen.

According to the TCC, the man had violated military registration rules, was wanted, and was subject to military conscription. During the medical commission, he became unwell and an ambulance was called. According to the TCC, medical workers provided emergency care for 45 minutes but then pronounced him dead.

Investigation

The TCC statement said that an internal investigation had been ordered and a criminal case had been opened. The Dnipropetrovsk regional TCC and SP said it was assisting investigators.
