Dmytro Sysoniuk was a pediatric anesthesiologist in the intensive care department of the Rivne Regional Children's Hospital. For many years, he worked in pediatric resuscitation, saving the lives of critically ill infants and children.
In July 2026, during a routine administrative renewal of critical infrastructure enterprise status and military deferments via the Diia digital portal, the hospital temporarily lost its exemption status. During this interim period, Sysoniuk was stopped on the street by a mobilization patrol from the Rivne Joint Municipal TCC and SP and taken to the facility. On 27 July 2026, he underwent military medical examination (VLK), was classified as fit for support unit service, and was dispatched to a military medical training facility in Vinnytsia region.

- Medical Forces Command of the AFU: stated in response to media inquiries that during his hospitalization from 1 to 5 August, the patient lodged no complaints alleging violence, abuse, or hazing.
- Rivne TCC and SP: asserted that mobilization was conducted lawfully because at the moment of conscription, the hospital's critical status had lapsed and the deferment was inactive.
