Chronology

  • 13.03.2026 - Vasyl Voichuk from Petriv village was mobilized on his birthday. According to his brother Volodymyr, TCC officers from Horodenka arrived, put him in a minibus, and took him away.
  • 14.03.2026 - Vasyl told his brother that he had passed the military medical board and had been declared fit.
  • 17.03.2026 - the family's last conversation with Vasyl; they then learned he had been sent to Skelia.
  • 24.03.2026 - the death notification stated that Vasyl Voichuk died in Zaporizhzhia district as a result of illness.
  • 29.03.2026 - the family was informed of the death.

Circumstances of the incident

The medical certificate that his brother received in Zaporizhzhia said death occurred in an ambulance from acute cardiopulmonary failure with left-sided pleural empyema. Volodymyr Voichuk told Suspilne that he saw signs of beating on his brother's body, including a displaced skull and a blue neck.

According to the brother, Vasyl had no military experience and was not healthy enough for service. The brother did not file complaints with law-enforcement bodies over the circumstances of death.

Investigation status

No separate public criminal proceeding into Vasyl Voichuk's death was found. The case is part of the group of five deaths in Skelia for which inspections were reported after media coverage.
