Timeline
- 01.02.2024 - Mykola Irzaikin was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- After mobilization he was sent to a training center in Zhytomyr region. According to Suspilne, he was a cadet in a training platoon with the rank of soldier.
- Relatives said he had not complained about his health before mobilization, did sports, and stayed in touch with family after being sent to the training center.
- 09.02.2024 - he died at the training center on the 9th day after mobilization.
- 13.02.2024 - a farewell ceremony was held in Ternopil.
Investigation
The Central Region Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office told Suspilne that criminal proceedings were opened under Article 115 of Ukraine's Criminal Code with the note "natural death."
According to the medical certificate from the Zhytomyr regional forensic bureau, the cause of death was acute pulmonary and cardiac failure; pneumonia, unspecified. A forensic examination was ongoing.
