Circumstances of the incident
On 29 December 2024, 40-year-old Yevhen Kryvodub was on the premises of the Sumy city TCC. According to prosecutors, a dispute arose between him and a serviceman, after which the accused struck Kryvodub in the chin. The victim fell headfirst onto the concrete stairs.
The accused told the court: "He started insulting me, my uniform, my patches" and "I regret it."
Family's version
The deceased man's aunt, Nataliia Skachedub, expressed doubts about the TCC/agency version. Relatives believe the case should be handled by the military prosecutor's office. When they called back the number from which Yevhen had phoned them, they were told that "he drank half a liter of vodka, became ill, and was taken to hospital" - which contradicts the version of a beating by another man.
TCC version
A representative of the regional TCC said: "On the eve of the New Year, a conflict occurred on the premises of the Sumy city TCC and SP between two men who are not TCC representatives, as a result of which one inflicted bodily injuries on the other. The injured man was taken to a medical facility by ambulance called by the duty shift."
