Meikher Ihor
Biography
Ihor Meikher, 49 years old (born 1974), lived in the village of Medvedivtsi in the Buchach community of Ternopil region. According to the village elder, he was a calm, friendly, and kind person. He did not work, but he always helped his neighbors.
Chronology
- ~25.02.2024 - he arrived or was taken to the guard company of the Buchach TCC. He spent two days there.
- 27.02.2024, 17:40 - an ambulance brought him to the anesthesiology and intensive care unit of Buchach hospital. Admission diagnosis: "convulsive syndrome." Condition: unconscious, convulsing, with impaired breathing and hemodynamics.
- 27.02-29.02.2024 - he remained in intensive care.
- 29.02.2024 - he died in intensive care.
Circumstances of the incident
Ihor Meikher spent two days on the grounds of the Buchach TCC guard company. From there he was taken to hospital unconscious and in an epileptic seizure.
Military version: he had a seizure and fell on his own.
Forensic conclusion: the cause of death was closed traumatic brain injury - a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage.
Relatives did not believe that a 49-year-old man could simply fall in a way that caused a skull fracture. This is a typical case where the agency version tries to explain severe trauma as an accidental fall, even though the man was under TCC control.
Community reaction
- After Meikher's death, Buchach residents held a rally in the city center near the city council.
- About 100 people gathered.
- They demanded a fair investigation.
Investigation status
- 29.02.2024 - the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the sphere of defense for the Western Region opened criminal proceedings.
- The SBI and the military prosecutor's office are investigating.
