Circumstances of the incident

Suspilne reported that Yaroslav Mokryi had long-standing lung problems, previously had a disability group, and had pneumonia after mobilization. The forensic certificate issued to relatives listed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as the cause of death.

His sister links the death to the fact that an ill person was sent to an assault regiment and, in her view, did not receive proper help. Skelia confirmed to Suspilne that Mokryi served in the unit, but refused to answer questions about the causes and circumstances of death, citing medical confidentiality.

Investigation status

No public information about a separate criminal proceeding specifically into Yaroslav Mokryi's death was found. The death is part of the media-covered group of five deaths in Skelia, after which the ombudsman reported a separate inspection of the regiment.
