Biography

Vladyslav Petrov, 34, was a resident of Zaporizhzhia. He had the status "fit with restrictions." His mother, Liudmyla Petrova, is a lawyer from Zaporizhzhia.

Chronology

  • 27.01.2025 - he was detained by employees of the Zaporizhzhia TCC. According to his mother, the detention was unlawful because he had the status of fit with restrictions.
  • 28.01.2025 - he was taken to a military unit in Dnipropetrovsk region for a medical board.
  • ~Late January - early February - his health deteriorated catastrophically.
  • 03.02.2025, 06:00 - Vladyslav Petrov died.

Circumstances of the incident

Doctors told his mother that Vladyslav was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. His condition when he arrived at the hospital included:

  • kidney failure;
  • numerous bruises all over his body;
  • frostbitten limbs;
  • bilateral pneumonia.

His mother believes the medical board's conclusion and diagnosis were falsified, and that her son was subjected to torture while in the military unit.

Investigation status

  • Liudmyla Petrova filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office.
  • Human rights defender Oleh Vermiienko helped prepare the complaint and posted information about the case on Facebook.
  • 05.02.2025 - the statement appeared on the page of the Bar Council of Ukraine.
