Unnamed man — Shepetivka

On the evening of 24 December 2024 in Shepetivka, a man was beaten in the sleeping room where mobilized men stayed overnight before leaving for training centers. He died in hospital. In case 688/2650/25 the Shepetivka court sentenced the attacker to 8 years and 6 months.

Chronology

  • 24.12.2024, evening — in the social-adaptation unit used as a barracks, two newly called-up men fought. The court materials say the accused, a previously convicted man from Volyn, punched the victim in the jaw. The victim fell, hit the back of his head and lost consciousness.
  • About an hour later the accused pulled him off the bed, knelt on his chest and landed at least 10 punches to the head and torso.
  • The victim was taken to intensive care at Shepetivka multidisciplinary hospital. Local reports date the death 25 December 2024.
  • 16.05.2026 — the court convicted the accused under Criminal Code article 121 part 2 and imposed 8 years and 6 months in prison.

The court described a closed head injury, hemorrhages, rib fractures, hemothorax and a ruptured kidney. Reports on the case file mention at least 26 blunt impacts.

A different account of who the attacker was

The Shepetivka site and ye.ua present the verdict as a fight between two mobilized men. A TSN headline calls the convicted man a TCC serviceman. Local reports say a separate pretrial investigation of the Shepetivka TCC guard unit has been open since 21 March 2025 under article 121 part 1.
